About Hijam Khandakar
Design is how I turn complexity into calm.
I'm a Senior UX Designer and Product Design Consultant based in Berlin, Germany — working with international teams to build digital products people genuinely enjoy using.
My journey
My path into design didn't start in a design school — it started with curiosity about why some products feel effortless and others fight you every step. That question pulled me from Narsingdi to Berlin, and eventually into the design teams of some of the world's most demanding companies.
I sharpened my craft as a Designer at Sure Oak in New York, then stepped into a Senior UX Designer role at Amazon in Berlin, designing customer-facing experiences at massive scale. Today I'm a Senior UX Designer at Google, working while still shipping alongside global teams.
Alongside full-time work, I partner with founders and companies as a freelance consultant — because the problems that excite me most often live inside ambitious startups that need senior design thinking without a senior-sized team.

Most projects run 2–6 weeks depending on scope. Audits and small MVPs land on the shorter end; full feature design, redesigns and design systems on the longer end. I share a clear milestone timeline before we start.
Every package includes structured revision rounds — 2 on Basic, 3 on Premium and Advance, plus post-delivery support. Revisions are focused feedback cycles, not endless tweaking, which keeps quality high and timelines predictable.
Primarily Figma for UI, prototyping and developer handoff, plus Adobe XD and the Adobe Creative Suite when a project calls for it. You get organized, well-named files your engineers will actually enjoy working from.
Yes — I work daily with US and European teams from Berlin. I keep overlapping hours for calls, communicate proactively in async updates, and I'm known for reliable, clear communication regardless of the clock.
Absolutely. I can extend your current system and brand guidelines, or build a fresh, scalable foundation from scratch. Either way, everything stays consistent, documented and easy for your team to maintain.
A short intro to your product, your goals, and any existing assets or research. We cover the rest on the discovery call — I'll come with a plan, and you'll leave knowing exactly what the engagement looks like.
Typically a 50% deposit to book your slot and 50% on delivery, via international payment platforms. Larger engagements can be split into milestone-based payments. Everything is agreed clearly upfront — no surprises.
